The best view you have ever seen?
Mt. Baker, Snoqualmie National Forest in Washington
Why do you travel?
I travel because I love seeing new places, experiencing different cultures, and coming home with memories that last a lifetime. I love everything about the trip process! I love planning and finding all the secret places that you can only find by really researching where you want to go. I enjoy the spontaneity of things not going as planned like sitting in the rain eating Top Ramen with a piece of bread because you forgot utensils and plates. There are too many beautiful spots in this world to stay in the same place forever!
Where do you feel most at home while in nature (what type of landscape: mountains, beach, etc.)?
I feel most at home in two places.
- Surfing in cold, remote and beautiful places when the waves are good and no one else is around except for me and my friends!
- Finally arriving to a backpacking destination, setting up camp and enjoying the company I am with. It’s not too shabby watching the day turn into a beautiful sunset and then a starry night either!
Your favorite photo you have ever taken?
These Sierra Nevada Mountains
What is your favorite place to backpack?
In the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. There are so many amazing trails and it is a great, easy way to escape the busyness of Southern California.
If you had one week right now for a quick adventure get away, where would you go (no financial constraints)?
I would go Heli snowboarding in Alaska for 2 days, and then hunt down some undiscovered waves for 2 days. The last 3 days would be spent exploring the moon.
What’s your favorite food to have on a camping trip?
Some good ol’ fashioned Trader Joe’s sausage with eggs and avocado toast.
Where is your favorite break?
It’s a secret
What does being outdoors do for you personally (mind & body)?
Being outdoors does so much for me. First of all, It is SO much fun being outside hiking, surfing, snowboarding, etc. Second, it offers a much needed break and sense of peace as a healthy way to get my mind off all the things that I “need” to be doing. Life is busy and being outside is a great way to slow down. For me, being outside inspires me. Everything from the mountains to the sea motivates and encourages me to work harder so that I can spend more time doing the things that I love outside. I was so inspired by being outside that I started a company completely based upon making it easier for other people to go explore. It is also the reason that I got into photography–to start commemorating my memories and share them with others.
Most memorable international destination?
Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park in New Zealand
